Meet the Facilitators

I love Yoga Nidra.  I can say that with certainty.  I love experiencing it as a student and I love teaching it.  My favorite part of class is at the end, watching everyone emerge from the depths of themselves, learning to re-orient.  I found Yoga Nidra because I needed a place to find comfort in this urban lifestyle. I was stressed and so detached from myself that I couldn't seem to plant my feet on the ground. Within that I happened upon a Yoga Nidra class and soon I found myself happily going to Yoga Nidra classes each week at my local studio in Washington, D.C.  It gave me a chance to turn off my brain from worries and responsibilities and come back with renewed clarity. After leaving D.C. in 2004, I found myself going home and listening to the Yoga Nidra CD that my teacher had recorded over the next few years.  I kept using it as a tool to tune into myself.  In 2007 I ordered the Yoga Nidra book by Swami Satayananda Saraswati and became inspired to offer what I was experiencing for others. I started offering Yoga Nidra in my community workshop "Yoga Circle"  in San Francisco in 2007. My students were giving me such positive feedback about it that I decided to start LA Nidra this year for a place to let people come land to find some peace in this stress inducing environment.  My intention is to offer you a space to find your own source of comfort and creativity.

One of my great joys  is sharing the gift of yoga nidra.  I first experienced yoga nidra during my Kripalu teacher training in 2004 and I immediately incorporated elements of yoga nidra into my practice and classes. My relationship to yoga nidra has deepened in the past five years and this spring I returned to Kripalu to earn my yoga nidra certification.  In five days of dedicated practice I experienced a dramatic personal shift.  Although yoga nidra has always helped relieve anxiety and stress, this focused practice transformed me.  Patterns, blocks, and past troubles became clear and I developed a sharpened sense of purpose and connection to spirit.  As a writer and performer, I use the practice of yoga nidra to open up creative channels and tune in to inner guidance.  Recently my mother had surgery and she successfully used yoga nidra to ease pre-surgery anxiety and manage post-surgery pain. I compose original yoga nidra scripts, which include powerful visual journeys, so each experience will be unique.  I feel lucky to know about this largely unknown yogic tradition and I invite you to start your yoga nidra journey and get to better know yourself and the world around you.
